Alana Bryant Interview Transcript:

NATASHA: Hello, I am Natasha Fearon and I'm here with Alana Bryant at the Park Slope Old Timers reunion at 4th Street and 6th Avenue on Saturday, August 9th, 2025. Can you please spell your name for me please?

ALANA: A-L-A-N-A Bryant, B-R-Y-A-N-T.

NATASHA: What is your relationship to Park Slope or to Brooklyn?

ALANA: Family. Family. Um, grew up here with friends, friends that I grew up with for a long time. Childhood friends that I went to school with. I lived up the block, up 4th Street, on between 7th and 6th Avenue.

NATASHA: Do you have a particularly powerful or important memory of Park Slope or Brooklyn you'd like to share?

ALANA: Yeah, Prospect Park. Being in Prospect Park, hiking, having picnics, barbecues with the family, friends. Enjoying ourselves up in the park, doing a lot of different things.

NATASHA: Why did you decide to come to the Park Slope Old Timers Reunion today?

ALANA: Seeing my old friends that I grew up with and the ones that I didn't see for years, I just wanted to see how they are, how they're doing, how everybody's living.

NATASHA: What are some things you think more people should know about Park Slope or Brooklyn based on your own experience?

ALANA: I think everybody should know about Park Slope because Park Slope is a beautiful place to live, a good place to raise your children, nice schools to go to, nice activities, restaurants. I think it's beautiful for everybody to know Park Slope because Park Slope is a good place to be.

NATASHA: What are your hopes for the future of the neighborhood and Brooklyn?

ALANA: My hopes is that they can lower the rent so we all can move back to Park Slope. Because I love living here, but it’s just high right now. But I would love to live back here and be with family and friends that are still living here.

NATASHA: Thank you.

ALANA: You're welcome.
